Arctic, oil pipeline by gign-3208 Arctic, oil pipeline by gign-3208
My new art. Inspired by the Russian North. My father worked there.

wish I could offer a more dramatic answer to why this is so heartwarming to me, but it just reminds me of when I was younger playing Black ops 1! Hehe... a game about murdering others. Regardless1 I do love this picture despite unusual origins!

Oh, wow, I'm a little surprised by this. I lived in Nunavut my whole life up until three years ago, and it's almost uncanny how much this reminds me of home. You've captured the environment very nicely!

I've always had an admiration for those that work in freezing temperatures on oil pipelines. Excellent piece.

Man, I wouldn't want to live there. Too cold and barren looking. I think you really got the atmosphere and feeling of the scene and environment down on this one.

I'm working on a fan fiction where humans do build oil drilling and pipelines in the frozen lands of the Crystal Empire to pump oil. Along with that they do train ponies how to operate the oil drilling machines.

I did once drive to Alaska's North Slope on the Dalton Highway and it really does look like this.

Cool image. Reminds me of a scene from "Man of Steel". Coincidentally, Stalin's name actually meant "Man of Steel" as well!

Lovely work making the hair really voluminous and impressive. And the coat, too. One can feel the thickness of it. And the snow looks quite nice, too, just like it should on a road like this. And that construction foam insulation around the door, gives the entire building character, kind of a cozy function-over-form feeling. Or so it seems to me. And even the truck pone back there looks cute. I also really like how the stars are visible even despite the light of the lantern and the low sun. And the small details like the fine use of blur and the perspective and the notches on the grate steps. Well done.
